During the peak of PSL (aka Pumpkin Spice Latte) season, Halo Top decided to inspire America to turn in their 490 calorie Starbucks treats for a better one.
The idea was simple: Let's use Halo Top Pumpkin Pie ice cream to create a better PSL, a PPL (Pumpkin Pie Latte) and tour across the country.
To reach the masses, Wolfgang Agency partnered with Schofield Flowers to hit up 10 cities with 10 custom barista-style food trucks and set up in public parking lots adjacent to Starbucks to encourage people to dump their high-calorie PSL for a low-calorie PPL. Over the course of 50 activations, we thought for sure we'd get scolded, heckled, and pushed out by Starbucks employees for stepping on their turf. But what happened was quite the opposite. People started to crowd the Halo Top food truck, turning in their PSLs, and before too long, there were Starbucks baristas waiting patiently in line to sample the goods.
When you can recreate something as delicious and decadent as a PSL with 1/3 the calories, it's worth sharing. Featured on TODAY, mashed, guiltyeats, stacked and more.
